Sony Returns To IBC...

News Image
IBC2013 gives Sony the opportunity to share its vision for the broadcast industry. Through exciting developments in technology, products, solutions and services, Sony is pushing the boundaries of what is possible and creating a world beyond definition. Sony will be showing how it is working with the industry to help meet consumer demand for content rich formats such as 4K and allowing its customers to take the lead in content creation and distribution.
The event also gives Sony the chance to share experiences from some its key projects over recent months. Most notably, Sony has provided 2D venue facilities, including systems integration services, event equipment as well as technical facilities and operations for the FIFA Confederations Cup 2013 in Brazil, where it has also been trialling 4K live production workflow.
Also, Sony was responsible for shooting and recording part of this year's Wimbledon Championships in 4K; yet another technological landmark for the AELTC (All England Lawn and Tennis Club) and Sony.
Alongside its work in sports broadcasting, Sony will also be able to discuss how it has supported the future talent of the broadcast industry through initiatives such as the John Lennon Bus and the Sony PROduction awards. Earlier this year, Sony partnered with the John Lennon Educational Tour Bus, providing production equipment, integration services, consultancy and expertise that will help the development of core skills around music, video and digital production as part of its commitment to student skills and media education. In May of this year, Sony also announced the winners of the Sony PROduction Awards, a competition to uncover and celebrate the filmmakers of tomorrow.
"IBC2013 is a landmark event for Sony as it offers us the opportunity to meet with many of our customers and debate the future of the broadcast industry. As well as discussing our vision for a world beyond definition, it gives us the chance to share learnings and explain how we have overcome the challenges of filming some of the world's largest events in 4K," said Olivier Bovis, Head of AV Media, Sony Europe.
"We are always excited to meet with our customers and partners and listen to their feedback. It is only by working in such close collaboration that we can retain our position at the heart of the industry."
Sony will be exhibiting at the same location as last year, in Hall 12, stand number 12.A10 and also in the central outdoor space.
