Sony has announced a technology tie-up with BT Sport through BTs Lead partnership with Timeline Television which will see the company provide the latest High Definition camera and support equipment for the new BT Sport facility located at Queen Elizabeth II Park.
Sony's advanced technology solution will see three Sony MVS-7000X Vision Mixers, five MVS-3000 Vision Mixers, fifteen HDC-2400 studio cameras, as well as the latest Sony TriMaster OLED monitors rolled out across the three new studios at the facility. Sony has worked in close partnership with Megahertz, systems integrator on the project, and the BT Sport project team to design and implement the most robust technical solution at the new facility which will support the launch of the new BT Sport channels on 1st August.
The BT Sport facility will broadcast BT Sport 1, BT Sport 2 and ESPN. BT Sport will show 38 exclusively live football matches from the Barclays English Premier League, plus FA Cup, UEFA Europa League, as well as a range of new studio debate and information shows such as BT Sport Live.
Sony Sales Director, Dave Dougall commented: "Sony has long been at the forefront of broadcast technology for live production and have a strong track record in fitting out the industry’s leading broadcast studios. Working with BT Sport gave us an exciting opportunity to help shape a new sporting broadcaster from the ground up and deliver a best-of-breed technology solution that will guarantee the most compelling coverage."
Sony has a strong heritage in delivering technology for live production and the solution it has delivered for BT Sport’s new HD studios will provide a unique facility that is one of the most advanced in the industry. The depth of expertise of the Sony team combined with the reliability and ease of operation of the Sony technology, which has been the backbone for some of the most high-profile live sporting events in recent years, such as the Confederations Cup and Wimbledon, meant Sony was the natural technology partner for BT Sport.
Jamie Hindhaugh, Chief Operating Officer of BT Sport said: "At the core of our new studios build is a spirit of collaboration that brings the best of industry – and sometimes competitors – working together toward a common aim: to make the BT Sport studios a world-class hub for the best ideas and talent. We believe talent attracts talent and our partnership with –Sony as a partner has helped us to foster that mind-set."
