New transmission channels installed at MTV
Wire: Broadcast Ltd, the broadcast systems integrator, has recently completed its third major installation contract at MTV Networks Europe, creating an additional twelve channels under the control of Omnibus automation for MTV's Automated Transmission System (ATS) area.
Working closely with MTV’s engineering department the new system was carefully integrated around the existing ‘on air’ channels. MTV Classic is the first new channel to be transmitted via the new installation.
New equipment included a 96x96 Thomson Broadcast SDI router, several Miranda Easykeys and Imagestores, TC Electronics Dbmaxs and Genesis interface racks from Leitch.
MTV Engineering Manager Howard Monaghan commented: "We chose Wire: Broadcast for this major project due to their successful previous work with us. It was important that they could work flexibly within the 'on air' environment with minimum disruption to the existing channels. They managed to achieve this and produce a professional installation on time and within budget."
Jonathan Rackowe, Wire: Broadcast director, added: “Having provided transmission systems in the past for MTV, we were delighted to be chosen to expand their ATS area. This is our third major project for MTV and clearly shows they value the service we provide”.
Wire: Broadcast provides professional high-quality technical installations to the television and media world. The company combines the extensive experience of broadcast engineers Jonathan Rackowe and Robin Howell together with a team of experienced engineers and wiremen. Their work ranges from small installations for facilities and media companies, through central apparatus rooms and broadcast production studios to fully integrated systems, such as broadcast transmission systems or a complete production facility. Clients include BBC, JVC Professional, Freeserve, XTV and Kemistry.
