FOCAL Annual Footage Training Week Announced

FOCAL International’s Footage Training Week, beginning Monday 08 July, will offer learning and networking opportunities for media professionals of all kinds. The weeklong course provides an introduction to the issues, challenges and new developments in the world of footage archives, including sessions on film history, restoration and an on-site look at the infrastructure of a footage licensing operation.
Included in the Training Week package for the first time are two daylong conferences, one on metadata and the other on copyright, both open to the general public.
The daylong conferences will take place at the Royal Astronomical Society on Wednesday 10 and Thursday 11. The first conference, entitled ‘Metadata and Why it’s Important’, explores the value of metadata and the challenges surrounding the ingest and logging of legacy formats and new content.
The second, entitled ‘Copyright and Underlying 3rd Party Rights’, provides a comprehensive survey of the challenges faced by both producers and users of image-based content in the 21st Century.
FOCAL’s annual summer party will also take place on Thursday 11 July on HMS Belfast, offering an opportunity to network with friends, clients and colleagues from the footage industry. All are welcome.
