German Broadcaster Deploys Marquis' Medway

German public broadcaster Bayerischer Rundfunk (BR) has deployed Marquis’ integration solution, Medway, as part of a major new AVID edit and interplay PAM and MAM system at its Munich headquarters.
Medway will be used to integrate the movement of media and metadata in and out of the AVID and other component systems.
"BR was one of the first installations to take advantage of Medway’s sophisticated software tool kit delivering a seamless and cost-effective integration between leading broadcast content applications," explains Simon Fearn, Medway project manager, Marquis Broadcast.
"Six years on and BR needed to upgrade. Following a detailed tender process, won by AVID at the end of 2011, Marquis was subcontracted to AVID to supply the latest version of Medway, along with bespoke developments enabling integration with other existing third party and legacy systems at the public Broadcaster."
New Medway developments include the provision for transfer while record and edit while transfer of XDCam HD, which is an essential part of production workflow at BR.
Metadata is exported using the existing MAM system, eliminating inaccuracy and ensuring smooth workflow.
BR will also take advantage of genealogy asset tracking which is also an essential part of the work flow for the broadcaster.
Fearn confirms: "We have been delighted to be working in conjunction with AVID to support BR’s requirements on this major installation."
