Marquis Launches Medway S3 Cloud Support
Marquis Broadcast has launched S3 Cloud Storage support in Medway and Partial File Retrieve (PFR), it has been announced.
Marquis' Medway solution supports S3 storage as a source or destination of media production workflows. PFR hosts media indexes in the cloud, so given permissions, multiple applications can now access cloud-hosted content to single frame accuracy, thereby reducing network demands, S3 bandwidth and S3 retrieval charges.
Paul Glasgow, Sales and Marketing Director, Marquis, said: "Our long term strategy has been to drive customer value through workflow optimisation and risk mitigation by the development of integrations between a large community of media and broadcast partners. Because Marquis already provides integrated workflows to broadcasters we are well positioned to help them transition these to the cloud. Our interoperability engine, Medway now has a significant library of legacy and contemporary integrations enabling migration of workflow, assets and interoperability into the cloud.
"Medway provides transfer and format conversion workflows for video, audio, data and metadata, allowing for the exchange of media and metadata between broadcast systems in a fast, transparent and cost effective way, enabling its users to operate complete file based workflows in mixed format environments. We have now developed Medway to support S3 natively, with PFR using standard production file types with cloud hosted indices. By leveraging our partner eco structure we can help accelerate workflow migration by offering Medway Migration, Workflow, Storage and Integration now as a service.
"In addition to cloud migration and PFR, Medway can support proxy workflows for efficient 4K storage and download. Our S3 integration was jointly tested and previewed at IBC2016 and the result will now transform the economics of asymmetric charging for S3 storage and further accelerate the commercial adoption and production migration to the cloud."
