Leeds company in video ‘Oscars’

Leeds-based Dalbir Sagoo of Box Media has scooped success in the Institute of Videography Awards 2002.
His music video, 'Akhyian', (Eyes) won the post-production category of the competition, which recognises outstanding achievement in editing and special effects.
The video, produced for Manchester-based pop group Bobby, is the story of a boy and girl who meet and fall in love but, at the end, she turns out to be a figment of his imagination.
Sagoo said: “It’s been a great success showing on satellite and cable practically every day on most of the Asian channels. In addition, managing director Yas Ali Khan of Supreme Dream Records has sent copies to India, Pakistan and Canada. This will give us international recognition. "
The record company are now planning another album later in the year – which will involve Sagoo and his colleagues at Box Media on a filming trip to Mauritius and Spain.
Sagoo has been in the video business for 20 years, starting with weddings but now he does only corporate programming. He is increasingly involved in advertising work, which gives unparalleled opportunities for creativity.
Dalbir received his award at a prestigious Gala Dinner held at the Manor Hotel in Meriden, which formed part of the two-day IOV Convention 2002 at the National Motor Cycle Museum in nearby Coventry.
