re:fine Adds New TV Content Owners For itunes

Content processing business re:fine has struck two new deals with major content owners in the fields of factual and family entertainment programming.
The first is with DHX Media, a global media rights company dedicated to the creation, production and licensing of family entertainment.
re:fine is carrying out all technical content processing for DHX Media’s delivery to itunes on an ongoing basis, with an initial 500 hours being made available on the platform including iconic properties such as Paddington Bear and Sonic Underground.
In the factual arena, DVD licensing and distribution company, GO Entertain, has also entered into an ongoing agreement with re:fine to deliver its content to itunes.
GO Entertain is a partner of A+E Networks and the official European distributor for HISTORY, Military History, Bio and Crime & Investigation releases, including the hit series Ice Road Truckers.
The collaboration between the two companies sees the first tranche of content delivered - 700 hours with a view to increasing this to over 1400 hours throughout 2013
More recently GO Entertain has added a significant library of prestigious sports content, a highlight of which is the release of 12 hour version of the Tour De France Review and one off specials featuring Eddy Merckx, Lance Armstrong and Italian and French legends in the Tour’s history.
Anita O’Donnell, Director, Client Services at re:fine explained: "We're finally seeing a significant shift amongst TV content owners to make their back catalogues available for VOD and itunes is one of the most accessible and lucrative platforms with which to do this."
re:fine has been processing content for the platform since 2009 in which time has managed 3,000 titles across film and TV. The company is well placed to guide content owners through the often daunting process of on-boarding with Apple. Re:fine has facilitated this process further with the development of a bespoke metadata tool re:write which allows clients to enter metadata once and then publish to any VOD platform.
