Avid and Sony unveil range of HD products
Avid Technology Europe Ltd and Sony Broadcast & Professional Europe have unveiled, for the first time in Europe, new products for high-end television production.
The Avid|DS HD Editor and the Sony HDW-750P camcorder were both shown during a presentation to over 50 key German broadcasters at the Experience Avid|naked event in Berlin.
“Our aim is to make HD production more affordable,” said Jeff Stewart, European Product Marketing Director at Avid. “With Avid|DS HD Editor, we offer both standard and hi-definition editing capability for a price that makes affordable HD production a reality.”
Milan Krsljanin, Senior Marketing Manager, Image Capture and Displays at Sony, said: "Every producer wants to make outstanding productions but financing is always a major challenge. Now, with the HDCAM line-up and particularly with the HDW-750P, they can deliver 35mm film quality programmes at below Super 16 budgets. This, combined with affordable HD editing, brings unprecedented creative and business opportunities to TV producers for high-quality programming.”
In addition to this, over 400 delegates benefited from a series of seminars covering industry-wide issues, technical topics and product demonstrations at the Berlin event.
The whole production process unveiled in Berlin will be shown at future Experience Avid|naked events taking place across Europe throughout the year.
Sony Broadcast & Professional Europe offers solutions from the latest in visual or corporate communications to broadcast, video-conferencing, surveillance, medical and digital imaging and presentations and are supported by PrimeSupport packages.
Avid Technology products are used to make more television and news shows, commercials, music videos and CDs, corporate/industrial productions and major motion pictures combined than any other nonlinear editing manufacturer in the world.
