Maxtor announce Intel compatible SATA drives

Maxtor Corporation's new Serial ATA (SATA) hard drives have completed compatibility testing with Intel’s 875P chipset for the Pentium 4 processor.
Tests were done in both Intel and Maxtor labs. OEMs, solution providers and system builders now have a variety of pre-tested SATA combinations for building PCs, RAID arrays and near-line storage applications. Included in many 875P platforms is Intel RAID technology that supports high-performance RAID arrays for SATA hard disk drives.
Knut Grimsrud, Serial ATA Working Group chairman and Intel senior principal engineer, said: “Intel and Maxtor continue to share the vision of the Serial ATA transition delivering new value and capabilities to the PC and near-line storage market segments. Both companies have been active in the SATA working group and have worked together closely on compatibility testing.
“Today, Serial ATA is enabling new applications and simplifying system designs. By combining our new Intel 875P chipset and its integrated SATA and RAID capabilities, with Maxtor’s family of SATA hard drives, we can serve a variety of market needs.”
