Polar Graphics Offers New Thunderbolt RAID

Polar Graphics' storage arm Stardom is offering a new eight-bay, rack-mounted Thunderbolt RAID.

The DR8-TB provides 10Gb/s Thunderbolt™ (2-Port) interfaces and is compatible with 3.5" SATA III drives up to 4TB. It can be configured into various storage modes - JBOD / RAID 0 / RAID 1 / RAID 5 / RAID 6 / RAID 10.
"The features make it a perfect Thunderbolt RAID for video editing and post production applications," a statement from the company said.
"DR8-TB provides latency management and RAID protection for SATA devices, which are accessible by Thunderbolt-enabled host systems."
The Thunderbolt transmission port comprises two 10 Gbps data transmission channels and is over 12 times faster than FireWire 800 and 20 times faster than USB 2.0.
DR8-TB comprises various storage modes, RAID 0, 1, 5, and 10, applicable for different storage requirements and applications. For video editing users, RAID 5 mode is recommended as it increases transmission speed and provides data security.
The DR8-TB includes various storage modules such as RAID 0, 1, 5, 6, and 10, and also supports 8 x 4TB SATA hard drives, with a total capacity of 32TB content safe storage. With a transmission speed of 800MB/sec, users can edit video and use other professional applications to reduce the time it takes to transmit data when working. Units are in stock now at Polar Graphics.
