RTW Takes Care Of Loudness For Radio

With legislation forcing loudness compliance throughout Europe and now the USA, Cologne based RTW has played a major contribution in the provision of loudness metering equipment to the broadcast and post industries worldwide. However, loudness is not only an issue for those industries but also for radio and film.
RTW now brings the TMR7 to market for loudness metering in radio broadcasting. TMR7 is a 4 channel system that has two AES3 digital inputs via XLRs that are configurable for mono, stereo or multichannel sources or for parallel monitoring of the on-air signal and a PFL source. The loudness module includes ITU loudness metering plus LRA loudness range measurement and true peak, all the elements required for compliance with EBU R128. Designed for flexibility TMR7 is available in a desktop, rackmount or OEM configuration.
The TMR7 expands the range of RTW’s TouchMonitors that now extends from the compact and affordable TM3 with 4.3” touchscreen in stereo, surround and 3G-SDI versions to the TM9, with up to 32 input channels and a comprehensive choice of I/O including AES3id and 3G-SDI. The range of loudness measuring tools for the TM7 and TM9 includes an LEQ Dialnorm display which has proved a perfect fit for measuring loudness in the film industry. This sits perfectly alongside the recently added Dolby Digital Plus compatible 7.1 version of RTW’s celebrated and easy-to-read “house” surround sound analyser. This free-of-charge upgrade adds an additional two surround channels to provide the four required for this 7.1 layout.
