Eyeheight at The Production Show

Eyeheight will be exhibiting three new products and an enhanced Master Control system at the Production Show in London from May 20-22.
With up to 12 inputs, the new IRIS SDI digital vision mixer is optimised for use in compact postproduction studios, outside broadcast and mobile production vehicles or wherever space is at a premium. IRIS performs full 10 bit mixing with programmable mix times and automatic or manual transitions.
The mixer includes an input synchroniser, plus an internal SDI reference ensuring continued operation in the absence of source signals. Up to eight downstream keyers can be incorporated. IRIS is designed to handle widescreen and standard aspect ratios and is fully compatible with Eyeheight's wide product range. It occupies a compact 1 U FB-9 Flexi-Box chassis with remote control panels. A wipe, edge and matte generator with user-adjustable edges is incorporated.
The SA-2HD is designed to meet the rapidly growing demand for cost-effective HDTV equipment among programme originators, postproduction companies and telecine houses. It supports 24, 25 and 30 Hz standards, interlaced, progressive and split frame, to SMPTE-274. These include 1080i/50, 1080i/60, 1080i/59.94, 1080p/24 and 1080p/23.98. The down-converted transmission output from the SA-2HD is fully compatible with the output from Eyeheight's standard-definition SA-1 SDI cage. Safe-action and safe-caption areas are clearly shown by the use of cursor lines, user-selectable shading or black areas. The selected safe-area markers are placed onto the HDTV video feed which can then be viewed on a monitor display. This allows programme originators and telecine transfer houses to ensure that the essential elements of an HDTV widescreen picture are within the safe areas to maintain good visibility on a 16:9 screen. The SA-2HD generates all commonly used guidelines, including: safe-action and safe-title areas; centre markers (short and full screen); moveable horizontal and vertical cursors; co- ordinates indication; variable aspect ratio box; and edge blanking lines (analogue and digital).
Eyeheight's Legal-eyes meets EBU specification R103-2000, which determines different tolerances for RGB colour space and luminance levels.
Legal-eyes enables the user to restrict incoming signal levels to the minimum necessary to prevent out-of-gamut excursion.
Full 10-bit signal processing of the 270 megabit/s SDI input signal is employed. The operator has front-panel adjustable control of clipping and soft-clip level, luma and chroma gain and black level, storable in eight user memories. A one-touch R103-2000 setting optimises the gamut specifically to the EBU recommendation.
