Focal organise one-day digital content conference
Focal have organised a one-day conference to attempt to dispel confusion and inform video library content holders and users on the advantages of digitalising their holdings.
The conference will be held at the Scientific Societies lecture theatre, New Burlington Place, which is just off Savile Row, London W1X 1AB, on Wednesday July 3.
Over the past few years, with the onset of the digital era, there has been a rapid growth in the whole area of how libraries and content providers generally can safely and economically exploit their holdings.
The questions many libraries are asking range from how to transfer all holdings onto a digital format to how to ensure rights protection and direct selling on the web.
These questions have left footage, stills and sound libraries with a dilemma over how best to utilise their material.
Areas covered will be digital rights management, e-commerce through to the legal ramifications of dealing effectively with the distribution of material. There will also be an opportunity for those interested in copyright laws along with the new European Information Society Directive which covers digital rights which effects the library business.
Speakers at the event include: Carolyn Jackson – Head of Rights, Legal and Business Affairs at Freemantle Media; Hubert Best – Head of Media Law at Hammond Suddards Edge; and Charles Haslem – Director Global Content at Digital Media Management.
