HHB upgrade CD-R Disc range
HHB have announced a comprehensive overhaul of their CD-R media, in which five of their seven discs are to be replaced by all-new, higher-performing products.
Manufactured in Europe to exacting standards, HHB's new 'Silver Type' discs - the CDR74 and CDR80, the inkjet printable CDR80IP and CDR80BulkIP, and the thermal printable CDR80Bulk Thermal - use a Phthalocyanine dye formulation in conjunction with a new, high-precision stamper to deliver significant benefits in three key areas.
Firstly, at a time when most manufacturers are concentrating on high-speed data recording media, the new HHB discs are specifically developed for use in the 1X to 24X writers used in audio CD recorders and duplicators. Using the correctly speed-rated media is essential to ensure consistently low block error rates and low jitter, optimising the integrity of the recorded data and extending its secure archival life. What's more, the exceptionally high reflectivity offered by the new discs ensures that the recorded material can be replayed on the widest possible range of CD players.
Secondly, with specifications exceeding those defined in both Orange and Red Books, the new HHB CD-R discs deliver excellent burn yields in both short run and bulk recording applications, resulting in significantly improved economy.
Thirdly, when recording to discs developed specifically for 1X-24X applications, economy is improved even further by reducing the operating stress on the lower-power lasers used in audio CD recorders and duplicators. In addition to these important performance upgrades, HHB have also made significant improvements to the printable disc surfaces. On the CDR80IP and CDR80BulkIP inkjet printable discs, a new, brilliant white surface ensures a vibrant print finish from a wide range of printers, while a faster drying time stops stickiness and the possibility of marking the printed image. Previously a silver-surfaced disc, the new CDR80Bulk Thermal printable disc also features a brilliant white printable layer, much stronger than that of its predecessor, to stop peeling in the increased heat and high-pressure conditions of the latest thermal printers.
