ITN Archive sign five new deals

ITN Archive, ITN’s specialist footage sales business, have signed up five new archive collections, adding a wealth of new material to the archive’s existing holdings.
The representation deals are with Airtime Television News, Sam Silver Films, Images of War, Open Media and Tinseltown Entertainment.
The Airtime Television News archive contains unique footage of celebrities, politicians and royals. Airtime Television News is an independent news agency with exclusive access to film at Heathrow and other public places. Notable footage includes Diana Ross’ Heathrow tantrum, Courtney Love’s arrest at Heathrow, Nick Leeson’s return to London on release from jail in Singapore, Roy Keane’s return from the 2002 World Cup and Princess Diana with Princes William and Harry at Thorpe Park.
Sam Silver films is a privately held collection of material dating from the 1930s to the 1980s. Sam Silver was a prolific amateur filmmaker who travelled everywhere with his camera. Notable footage from the collection include the famous interview with Ronnie Biggs in Rio, a colour film '24 Hours to War' made the day before war was declared in 1939 and colour footage of Manchester United and George Best in LA in the 1960’s. Key elements of the footage will be re-mastered and stored at ITN’s London headquarters.
The Images of War archive contains around 200 hours of original war related material, filmed in Britain, the USA, Germany, France and Japan. Footage includes the assassination of Archduke Ferdinand, chilling footage of the battle of the Somme, the battle of El Alamein and Hitler’s rise to power. It also contains some unique colour footage of World War II as well as 30 hours of raw footage from Deutsche Wochenschau, the official Nazi Newsreel.
The Open Media Archive contains a number of documentary and current affairs programmes, such as Channel 4’s 'After Dark', including the infamous Oliver Reed incident, science related material from Channel 4’s 'Equinox' strand, interviews with key figures from the Suez crisis and entertainment material from shows such as 'The Secret Cabaret' and 'Don’t Quote Me'.
Tinseltown Entertainment’s archive includes extensive footage of hundreds of celebrities from LA, New York and London. Tinseltown Entertainment specialise in attending celebrity events filming and interviewing high profile celebrities. Their interviews tend to focus less on mainstream movie issues, and more on the personal values of the celebrities. Notable interviews include Tom Hanks explaining his spiritual values, Larry King on life after death, Stephen Segal playing the guitar and Ben Affleck on his passion for yoga.
The new deals follow a highly successful year for ITN Archive, in which the business has rapidly expanded through management of the Channel 4 programme and film archive and the opening of two new international offices in Johannesburg and Los Angeles.
ITN Archive’s Sales Director, Alwyn Lindsey, said: “We’re delighted to be adding so much fascinating new material to the archive. The range of material we now have further bolsters our position as the ideal one stop shop for anyone looking for archive video footage. These new deals represent yet another significant leap forward for ITN Archive and to the ongoing development of ITN”.
Representation deals provide ITN Archive with a low risk opportunity to broaden the range of material available to clients from a single source, and have specialist offices in London, New York, Los Angeles, Tokyo and Johannesburg.
