Marquis To Get Up Close & Personal At IBC 2012

Marquis Broadcast, specialist in content workflows and media integration software, is set to ‘get up close & personal’ demonstrating its latest media integration solutions at IBC 2012, including its new solution Personal Project Parking, which will be shown for the first time on booth A.258.
Personal Project Parking is aimed at editors or small facilities looking to archive standalone Avid projects and media and allows facilities to create a complete copy of any Avid project onto any storage device. Editors and small facilities can now take a project off-site, work on it and then return it to the facility. The combination of Personal Project Parking for freelancers and Project Parking for facilities (first launched at BVE 2012) now enables a project to be archived to portable storage, restored to a remote machine and returned to the facility in the same way, without any information or media being lost.
At the same time Marquis will be showing the recently released v2.0 of Project Parking. The enhanced solution adds significant performance improvements when creating an archive and offers the facility to merge a project when it is restored with one that is already on the Avid system.
In addition, Marquis will also show the enhanced control capabilities of Medway 2.6, the latest version of its flagship media integration product plus X2Pro Audio Convert Version 2, the latest edition of its cutting edge conversion application for delivering Final Cut Pro X projects to Avid Pro Tools for audio finishing.
Medway 2.6 is a sophisticated software tool kit delivering a seamless and cost-effective integration between leading broadcast content applications. By unifying multi-vendor systems, Medway provides technical and operational workflows that optimise and integrate media clip and sequence transfers, media format conversion and transcoding, and metadata capture and integration. Medway 2.6 will now include Pre-Flight Check to verify a transfer before commencement, enhanced Audio Matrixing with Panning which allows for detailed control over how the input channels are mapped to the output channels, the ability to conform EDLs into single clips and support for Avid Media Composer 6 on both Windows and Mac platforms.
Marquis will also be showing new pre-release features of Medway such as JPEG 2000 support for lossy and lossless encoding and H.264 support for encoding and proxy creation. The H.264 support is being shown in an Avid proxy workflow where ingested media is prepared for the off-line edit after which Medway can relink to full resolution media for Avid to perform the on-line and finishing. “This is a significant step forward and should allow for edit workflows which are faster, less resource-intensive and yet produce results of the highest possible quality,” explains Chris Steele, product manager, Marquis Broadcast.
Version 2 of X2Pro, aimed for September release, will be on show at IBC for the first time. X2Pro uses Marquis’ Media Highway, the core technology employed by Marquis’ media integration products to integrate Final Cut Pro X into professional audio workflows, delivering seamless integration between the two applications. In this way, X2Pro provides a smooth workflow between Final Cut Pro X and Avid Pro Tools, allowing users to take full advantage of the functionality of these world-class products.
New additions to the product are anticipated to include: the option to select which Roles are exported to help reduce the size of AAFs; Control the order the Roles will appear in ProTools, making it easy to put them in the order the audio editor needs them; Trimming audio source with handles to reduce the size of AAFs produced, BWF metadata maintained to help with preserve metadata from shoot to finish and make it easier to select the right channel of audio; plus the option to reference audio files rather than embed them in the AAF.
”Our range of media integration products have been designed to enable broadcasters and other users of digital media to achieve maximum efficiencies from their workflow processes,” explains Steele. “Our Media Highway Technologies are in daily use with broadcasters in Asia, Europe and the Americas, with Marquis having supplied solutions to many of the major broadcasters including the BBC, Discovery, ITV, PBS, Technicolor Network Services and Turner Broadcasting. We are looking forward to showing our latest technical innovations, in person, at IBC 2012.”
