ITV network increases funding for news

Carlton and Granada have reportedly set aside a further £5.5m for coverage of any war on Iraq.
Most of the cash has already been spent by ITN, the provider of news for ITV, on sending more staff and equipment to countries in the gulf.
Steve Anderson, ITV's controller of news, told Broadcast that coverage of the crisis was a "massively expensive" operation.
He added that the network may be prepared to provide more funds if the war lasts for longer than seven weeks, although any extra cash would be considerably less as most of the costs had been required to get the operation up and running.
