Chello DMC To Playout ShortsTV

Chello DMC has been selected by Shorts HD to provide playout and content management services for the channel, as well as representation services in the Netherlands and Flanders.
Shorts will be launched on the 3rd April in both SD and HD and will initially be available to UPC subscribers in the Netherlands and to existing Shorts viewers in France, with further expansion throughout Europe over time.
Shorts is the world’s leading short movie entertainment company with an extensive catalogue dedicated to short movies. Shorts programming is categorised into one-hour or half-hour themed blocks that cover a variety of genres including comedies, musicals, documentaries, thrillers, dramas and animation.

The channel will be subtitled in French and Dutch, with additional languages to be added as the channel expands its distribution. The HD channel will be distributed on the Telstar 12 satellite and the feed can be accessed throughout Europe. In addition to the linear channel, Chello DMC will support Shorts in the delivery of video on demand services to its distribution partners.
Chello DMC currently plays out over 70 channels in HD and SD from its facilities in Amsterdam. The channels are delivered with multiple audio- and subtitle languages to more than 35 countries across three continents. Chello DMC clients include leading channel brands like National Geographic, Fox Life, The History Channel, MGM, JimJam and Disney Channel.
Carter Pilcher, Chief Executive at Shorts International said: "Chello DMC has first-rate technical broadcasting services and unrivalled expertise in channel playout. They are the ideal broadcast partner to help us expand our channel throughout Europe. With the best in short movies, we are excited to be bringing the channel's acclaimed content to new audiences across Europe through both live and on demand TV platforms."
Lukas Kernell, General Manager, Thematic Channels at Chello DMC said: "We are delighted that Shorts has chosen us to compile and deliver their channel, as well as represent the channel in the Netherlands and Belgium. Shorts is a wonderful addition to our bouquet of channels. We will be using the latest in broadcasting technologies to create a multilingual channel that is relevant to audiences across Europe and beyond."
