'Avatar' Faces Titanic Challenge To Remain Number One

News Image
With 'The Titanic' set to be re-released in 3D next month, Paddy Power are now taking bets on whether the 1997 disaster movie will reclaim the No.1 slot on the all time box office list.
Having been knocked off the top spot by another James Cameron blockbuster ‘Avatar’ in 2009 'The Titanic' is 7/4 with Paddy Power to once again top the list with 2/5 available on ‘Avatar’ remaining as the world’s highest grossing film.
Meanwhile, Paddy Power are also taking bets on how much the multi Oscar winning film will take at the box office this time round. Here it’s considered most likely that It will take between 800m to 1bn at 13/8 with more than 1bn available at 7/4 while fortunately for James Cameron’s bank manager it’s an unlikely 20/1 that the re-mastered classic will take less than 200m at the box office.
Paddy Power said "The early odds would suggest that The Titanic faces an uphill struggle to reclaim the No. 1 slot on the list but with the release of the film coinciding with the 100 year anniversary of the vessels maiden voyage, Titanic fever might make Avatar’s time at the top short and sweet."
