Bafta To Host Debate On Film Policy

News Image
Bafta is to host an industry debate on film policy review with Screen International Editor
Mike Goodridge hosting the event.
Widely applauded by industry and press alike, the DCMS' Film Policy Review sets out a vision of greater coherence and collaboration across the film industry.
With the government’s response to the document expected in late March and the BFI releasing their 5 year strategy for consultation in late April, Bafta are set to gather key industry figures to debate whether the Policy document gives us the right road map for the future of UK film and whether the wider industry can come together to deliver the best results.
The debate will cover a number of key areas including growth of an audience for British films through support of distribution, and specifically ask if the Review Panel was right to challenge Sky and ITV to do more to support UK Films.
Meanwhile another strand will see the debate focus on centralising production funds they will ask is there enough in this review to protect talent development and production outside of London
Meanwhile sales and export will also be tackled with the event asking – is there a robust plan for support of British film international sales and export?
The debate is set to take place on March 1 2012 for more info see:www.bafta.org
