Canford Unveil HD Video Cable & Wireless Viewfinder

Canford unveiled a slate of new products to the UK at the recent Broadcast Video Expo in London.
A new extended performance version of their 3G HD- SDI video cable range was rolled out. While the Gigtube II from Aputure, a wireless viewfinder with remote camera control received its professional launch. New sequentially powered up and down mains distribution units were also on display as were the new Canford manufactured mains power distribution units and fibre optic termination.
Meanwhile the company showcased Voice Technologies miniature high quality microphones and headsets including the latest waterproof versions. Products from the innovative Nevion fibre optic signal processing, conversion and routing ranges were also on display alongside Canford’s D’n’A audio cables.
About The Products
The new Canford SDV-L-X and SDV-X cable types can comfortably exceed SMPTE 292M and SMPTE 424M and their theoretically calculated performance. Canford claim the new low loss version of their extended performance cable will transmit full 3G HD signals up to 150m.
The Aputure Gigtube 2 is a 3.5”wireless viewfinder that operates over 2.4Ghz and provides remote camera operation for up to four DSLRs. The device is compatible with most of the latest Canon and Nikon digital models and equally suited to still or video capture. The Gigtube II can be used at up to 100m distance from the camera unit and is ideal for wildlife work.
The latest range of Canford manufactured fibre optic termination panels were seen at the show for the first time anywhere.  These new panels feature the innovative new Senko internally shuttered fibre adapters which are already being specced by UK broadcasters. The internal shuttered design helps protect from particles entering the signal path. The panels are based on Canford’s existing rugged highly regarded broadcast pattern designs. They are fabricated from extruded aluminium and come featuring SC, and LC shuttered adapters and ST in un-shuttered version only due to the inherent design of an ST coupler.
Canford’s new series of mains power distribution units (MDUs) featuring both sequential power up and power down were also on display at BVE. Versions will be available with power filtering and in a variety of inlet and outlet types based on IEC or Neutrik Powercon connectors. The addition of the new series takes Canford’s self manufactured range of mains powering units to well over 300 variations.
Canford also showed products from Nevion’s Flashlink and VikinX ranges. The products cover signal processing and distribution, format conversion and routing.  Nevion also manufactures highly modular solutions encompassing IP and optical transport, state-of-the-art compression and routing for any video format over any network infrastructure—within buildings or across continents.
Miniature high definition video monitors for DSLR and camcorder video capture from Ruige were also on the stand with a selection of stereo and standard condenser microphones suitable for DSLR video/sound capture including a new certified waterproof miniature mic from Voice Technologies for whom Canford is the exclusive UK distributor . Also interfaces that enable the use of fully professional phantom power mic types with DSLR and semi pro camcorders were on display.
