Hollywood Actress To Join Downton Abbey Cast

An Oscar winning actress is set to join the cast of ITV1’s Downton Abbey.
Shirley MacLaine is due to join Downton Abbey in its third season cast in the role of Lady Grantham’s mother. MacLaine will begin filming with the rest of the cast next month.
The Hollywood actresses' first film appearance was in Alfred Hitchcock's The Trouble With Harry, which earned her a Golden Globe award for most promising female newcomer in 1955.
Since then MacLaine has starred in over 50 movies including Terms of Endearment, for which she won an Oscar 1984. Her other credits include The Children's Hour opposite Audrey Hepburn, The Apartment with Jack Lemmon, Steel Magnolias and Postcards from the Edge.
Downton Abbey recently won the National TV Award for best drama and a Golden Globe for best mini-series.
