Artist Complaints Exaggerated

It has been reported that cinema goers in the UK launched a string of complaints when they discovered Oscar favourite, The Artist, was a silent movie: But Is this exaggerated?
The Artist is being tipped to collect a raft of Baftas – but some cinemagoers are demanding their money back because it is a silent film.
The tribute to the pre-talkie era has already won three Golden Globes.
Digital Spy reported: “A cinema in Liverpool has confirmed that it refunded moviegoers disappointed to discover that The Artist has almost no dialogue.”
Another movie-goer was informed by the an usher before entering the theatre that the movie she was about to see was a silent film.
"She [the usher] then told me some people complained and asked for refunds because there is no sound and the screen is smaller" recalled the movie viewer.
Evidently, some cinemagoers are oblivious to the charm the French film's portrayal of the silent movie era and are ignoring the critical adulation the movie has received since its release earlier this month.
The reports however are perhaps blown out of proportion.
A spokesman for the Everyman cinema chain said they had received no formal complaints about The Artist and had no recorded refunds.
The Cineworld and Vue chains also said they had no reports of any refunds being requested. Meanwhile Odeon Cinemas are still investigating whether the issue was isolated to Liverpool or if there have been complaints nationwide.
