Silent Disco King Powers The Biggest Silent Disco

Silent Disco King has taken 30,000 headphones to Lowlands festival for the world's biggest silent disco.

Lowlands festival is a multi-genre, alternative music festival, which is set in the Netherlands, only a one-hour drive from Amsterdam. Being one of the most established festivals in Europe, Lowlands really is on any music fans bucket list.

Annually curating a musical line-up of around 250 artists spread across 12 stages, the festival offers everything from buzzworthy up and coming artists, to some of the biggest names in music.

Back in 2017, Lowlands festival organisers had big dreams and aspirations to increase the size of their silent disco to 10,000 headphones. They needed a supplier capable of delivering exactly what they had in mind and after visiting their UK head office, it came as no surprise that Lowlands turned to Silent Disco King to help them achieve their plans. August 2018 saw Silent Disco King deliver a silent disco for Lowlands with not 10,000 headphones but 20,000 headphones, making the event the world’s biggest silent disco of its time. The silent disco went so amazingly well, it set the bar higher for an even bigger activation in 2019.

Expanding on ambitions for a second time, August 2019 saw 30,0000 headphones packed up and making their way to Biddinghuizen to light up an arena with 3 channels of music, keeping festival goers dancing until sunrise as customers were able to switch between 2 DJ's or the on-site radio station. The world's biggest silent disco warmed up the crowds before the official Friday opening of the festival.

Delivering the world's largest silent disco takes meticulous planning, 7 technicians and supervisors from the Silent Disco King team were on site to help set up and manage the event, with a local crew of 90 people for distribution.

Paul Gillies, Managing Director, said: "To ensure this event ran smoothly we worked closely with Kees Heegstra, Festival Frequency Co-ordinator, to select frequencies and optimise coverage by linking each DJ wirelessly to our centralised transmission mast. This provided coverage across a large part of the site, including two 10,000 capacity venues, the refreshments area and the campsite."

The festival's license for audio covers the Friday, Saturday and Sunday and the Silent Disco King solution enabled a whole day to be added to the festival resulting in additional revenue streams and more entertainment for the festival go-ers.
