IPS Announce Training Weekend

Details for a training weekend, which will focus on audio for outside broadcast and live music production, have been announced.
The Institute of Professional Sound (IPS), formerly the Institute of Broadcast Sound, has announced details of its annual training weekend, which is being held on 4-5 February 2012 at the National Film & Television School in Beaconsfield, Buckinghamshire.
The weekend will be divided into two day-long workshops; on Saturday 4th the focus is on audio for outside broadcast at the London 2012 Games (comms and links), while Sunday’s event will cover live music production and mixing, with a variety of live bands.
A series of seminars will give essential information for any sound professional connected with or interested in the 2012 London Games, whether in a news or outside broadcast team, or a single-camera operation.
Meanwhile during the following day of workshops a number of live bands, each playing in a different musical style, will be present allowing those taking part to gain hands-on experience at producing and mixing a live sound event.
"This is our first training weekend as the Institute of Professional Sound, and reflects our wider focus on the work of audio professionals in all fields, not just broadcast,” comments IPS Chairman Simon Bishop.
"Anyone working with audio for broadcast from the London 2012 Games - or anyone who would like to work at similar large-scale event- will find Saturday’s workshop and discussions invaluable, while Sunday’s event is designed to give practical experience to the growing numbers of our membership that do occasional or regular work in the field of live sound. We look forward to seeing you in February."
To book a place on the 2012 IPS Training weekend, see www.ips.org.uk. Places are limited, particularly for Sunday’s live workshop, so book early to avoid disappointment. Discounts are available for IPS Students (subsidised by the Andy Hewitt Trust) and members of the Association of Motion Picture Sound (AMPS). Rates (including VAT) are as follows: IPS Members: £180, IPS Student Members: £120, Non-members: £276 and AMPS Members: £216.
