Film Students Offered On Camera Internship

A new initiative, the Creative Minds in Cannes (CMIC) film programme can help students build relationships and gain the real-world experience they need in the competitive film industry.
The “Internship Experience”, “Filmmaker Institute” and “The Network Connection” provide highly structured and informally structured experiences to suit the needs of students and young professionals.
Since the launch of CMIC in 2005, alumni have secured positions with organisations including William Morris Endeavor, The Gersh Agency, Magnolia Pictures and many other companies, immediately following the program.
The highly competitive Internship Experience will be accepting 50 students for the 2012 program. This unique experience affords the participants an opportunity to work closely with a noteworthy film or television company in a department pertinent to the participants’ career goals.
CMIC program coordinators, many of whom are program alumni, carefully match Internship Experience applicants’ unique experiences and career ambitions with the needs and wants of leading entertainment companies; a magic formula.
Fox Searchlight, Rogers and Cowan, United Talent Agency and many other companies turn to the CMIC program to match them with interns to help them plan and coordinate events with high profile celebrities, write coverage for films, assist with sales and distribution meetings; as well as other tasks.
In the Filmmakers Institute, students are placed in small groups to create a short film for the “We Made it In Cannes Film Festival.” The films are shot and edited on equipment provided to attendees, aided by filmmaking professionals.
At the close of the programme, a screening of the short films is held for the CMIC film program attendees. A group of industry professionals then selects the best script and the most outstanding top three films. Winners are awarded prizes that will help them excel in their filmmaking careers.
For students and young professionals who require less formal structure, the Networking Connection allows participants to set up pitch meetings, gain access to key networking events and attend strategic workshops that can build a larger professional network.
The Creative Mind Group encourages their students to network with their over 400 peers and has launched their Alumni Network to help them stay connected and share industry updates.
