Cine Yorkshire’s Autumn Season Gets Underway

Following a film packed summer which saw cinema screens popping up at music festivals, mills and railway stations, Cine Yorkshire is delighted to announce an exciting new season of screenings and events taking place across North Yorkshire. With a second digital cinema, three more satellite venues and more village halls and community centres than ever on board, residents of North Yorkshire can look forward to an exciting programme of film and live broadcast performances this autumn.
Cine Yorkshire’s Village Hall Programme has been gathering momentum and with more promoters and venues joining the network, screenings are now scheduled right across North Yorkshire; from Hinderwell on the North Yorkshire coast to Arncliffe in the heart of the Dales. With a season of films specially selected by venues uniquely for their local communities, there’s something on offer to entertain young and old, with upcoming highlights including retro cult hit Vertigo, box office smash True Grit, kids favourite Toy Story 3 and Israeli conflict allegory Lemon Tree. Cine Yorkshire’s village hall programme is led by Blaize Community Arts, and delivered by volunteer promoters in small towns and villages across the County. In addition, rural screenings are also facilitated by Cine Yorkshire’s many community partners, including TRAMPS, Screenwaves, the Galtres Centre, Selby Globe and Northallerton Rotary. Thanks to BFI support, top quality HD cinema equipment provides a professional cinematic experience in the village venues.
Emily Penn, Project Manager at Cine Yorkshire, said: "Watching a film on the big screen or going to the theatre can be a magical experience for people of all ages, but for many communities across North Yorkshire, it has historically been one that involves costly and time consuming travel. Thanks to ongoing support from the BFI and the enthusiasm of our many partners and promoters, Cine Yorkshire is able to deliver a fantastic programme of film and alternative content to communities right across the county. With more venues on board than ever, residents of North Yorkshire can look forward to an exciting programme of film and live events to keep them entertained during the long autumn evenings."
