Photon Beard Lights The Way At IBC 2011

Photon Beard's Nova 270 light fixture, a low heat, energy efficient location lighting fixture is now in full production and is first location lighting fixture to bring light emitting plasma (LEP) to film and television.
LEP is a light source that is proving more efficient than either HMI or LED and is set to play a significant part in the future of broadcast lighting. LEP lamps are roughly the size of a pea, have a lifespan of around 15,000 hours, and were originally designed for high intensity usage like sport venues.
Photon Beard engineering has developed a way to harness the technology for the crucial lighting requirements of location and studio work. The surrounding fixture is manufactured using cast aluminium for strong front and rear housings and a lightweight yet durable aluminium body provides a luminaire that can withstand the rigors of life on location.
According to Photon Beard Managing Director Peter Daffarn: “With energy and cost savings at the forefront of broadcast and production minds, yet with no acceptable room for compromise on light quality, the Nova 270 more than meets cost-saving initiatives while actually delivering vastly
improved quality and functionality.”
At only 270W, the Nova 270 provides completely flicker-free, high CRI daylight and despite its intensity, requires no cooling fans. Daffarn added: “It is, literally and figuratively, a very cool lamp.”
