Teletest Launch Affordable S3D Mirror Rig

Teletest’s fully motorised S3D mirror and parallel camera rig, the Binorig, will be launched at this year’s IBC on Stand 11.D80.
The Binorig is lightweight and can be shoulder mounted, but is strong enough to support any broadcast camera without flexing the rig’s frame.
Designed for one-man operation, the interaxial and convergence settings on the Binorig are servo controlled, eliminating the need for a convergence puller.
Completed after two years of research and development, Managing Director Nick Rose said: “It produces stunning S3D images which are as good as those produced by rigs costing 10 times the price.”
The Binorig is also 'Steadicam' ready. As the interaxial distance is altered, the cameras move simultaneously to balance the rig. Then, when the convergence angle changes, the rig’s internal accelerometer acts as a gyroscope, providing constant feedback whilst maintaining a precise balance.
The Binorig is extremely versatile as, using an optional adapter, it can be quickly converted into a motorised S3D parallel rig for giving distance shots a stereoscopic effect.
Also at IBC, Teletest is launching the Cyclops-HD, a low cost S3D LCD monitor with four different set-up modes and anaglyph viewing, to calibrate S3D camera rigs when on location.
Nick Rose concluded: “Producers using Teletest’s affordable S3D equipment can now generate the stereoscopic content channels such as Sky and Discovery have been crying out for.”
