Accolades For Sheffiled Film Studio Warp X On International Festival Circuit

Sheffield's pioneering digital film studio Warp X is continuing to lead the way, with two of its films, Kill List and Tyrannosaur, both attracting critical acclaim at major international film festivals in recent weeks.
Both features were made in the region in 2010 with funding and support from Screen Yorkshire and are set for cinematic release in the UK this autumn.
Ben Wheatley's horror Kill List had its European premiere on July 3 at the Karlovy Vary International Film Festival in the Czech Republic. Kill List screened within the festival's prestigious Variety Critics' Choice programme, curated in collaboration with European Film Promotion (EFP), which aims to showcase European films by first and second-time directors notable for their freshness, invention and passion.
Described by Variety as "a richly textured psychological thriller… seamlessly morphing from gritty crime tale to atmospheric horror pic." Esteemed critic Peter Debruge awarded Kill List an impressive 4 stars (out of 4!) following the screening on Sunday. Kill List had its world premiere at SXSW in Austin, Texas, where it was widely acclaimed by critics, in March 2011. Kill List is released at cinemas in the UK on September 2011.
Meanwhile, Paddy Considine's directorial debut Tyrannosaur has taken two top awards; The Cinevision Award for Best International Debut at the Munich Film Festival last weekend and Best Writer/Director Award at the Nantucket Film Festival, Massachussetts on June 26, 2011. Filmed in Leeds and Wakefield in 2010, hard-hitting drama Tyrannosaur has had continued success on the international film festival circuit since its debut at Sundance in January 2011. Tyrannosaur is set for theatrical release in the UK in October 2011.
Hugo Heppell, Head of Production at Screen Yorkshire, said: "The continued acclaim for Ben Wheatley's Kill List and Paddy Considine's Tyrannosaur demonstrates the value of Screen Yorkshire's long-term investment in Warp X and shows that Yorkshire can deliver low budget feature films that impress and compete on a world stage."
