Thomson Switcher scores at World Cup

Millions of fans worldwide watched the FIFA World Cup match between Brazil and Germany unfold a few weeks ago in Yokohama, Japan, as the action was switched live with a Thomson Grass Valley digital production switcher.
With its standard-definition digital processing and multi-layer capability, broadcasters in hundreds of participating countries took the output from a Thomson Grass Valley DD35 switcher and passed it untouched on to their viewers, while others augmented the switcher's live video with regional language voice-overs and custom graphics from their own studios.
From 2D and 3D graphics and slow-motion replays to more than 23 camera views, everything was routed through DD35 switcher¹s multiple M/E channels via a serial digital connection.
