SGL's integration With Grass Valley Provides RTS With Seamless Digital Archive
Software Generation Ltd (SGL), a leading provider of content archive and storage management software for media and entertainment, has announced that Radio Television of Serbia (RTS) has upgraded its digital archive to include SGL FlashNet alongside Grass Valley's Digital News Production System (DNP).
The tight integration between the two systems provides significant improvement in speed and workflow procedures and replaces Grass Valley's NewsBrowse system.
Prior to the SGL and Grass Valley combination RTS's archive was based on videotapes and metadata within a database only accessible to staff within the archive department.
This slowed production significantly. With the deployment of the SGL FlashNet integration, the entire archive content now appears to RTS operators alongside other content within Grass Valley's MAM system, Aurora Browse. Users can access content within the archive for the channel's daily news programme directly from the Grass Valley applications enabling RTS to implement significantly improved workflows based on the rapid and easy retrieval of content from any location across their storage platforms.
Nenad Cukalovic, Executive Director TV Technology, RTS explained: "Now, we have an archive solution that makes our lives much easier. RTS journalists can browse all assets regardless of their location and can request material from the archive to be restored within a few mouse click. Media is then online and ready for use much faster."
Bernie Walsh, SGL's Worldwide Sales & Joint Managing Director, added: "The SGL architecture has been designed to enable seamless integration of the archive with all other systems in a customer's installation, regardless of their size, operations or workflows. This installation at RTS is a prime example of SGL's Open System and we are delighted to announce this sale today highlighting our strong commitment to the Balkans region."
