Bittree Launches New SC-to-SC Fibre Optic Coupler Panel
Bittree, a provider of professional audio and video patching components, has announced the release of its new SC-to-SC fibre optic coupler panel.
Designed to simplify high-density patching of fibre connections in dynamic and rapidly changing media environments, the new coupler panel is the latest member of Bittree's award-winning family of professional audio and video patching components.
Mike Buchanan, Vice President, Bittree, said: "Fibre is becoming increasingly important in production environments due to its flexibility, lower cost and ability to transport high-quality signals over long distances. Our new coupler panel provides a simple yet powerful solution for customers who want to link new equipment into their operations using fibre, without having to build out an elaborate fibre cable infrastructure. Examples might be operations that need easy access to interconnected, rented production gear, or interconnecting machine rooms across different buildings."
Making its debut at the 2011 NAB Show, Bittree's new SC-to-SC fibre optic coupler panel is the first to provide 1x24 density in a single rack unit; the previous maximum density available in a fibre coupler was 1x16. The coupler is ideal for use in machine rooms as a demarcation point for fibre optic tie lines and fibre runs to production equipment.
Redirecting a signal to add an additional piece of equipment, or on-the0fly patching around failed equipment, is as simple as changing the position of a patchcord. By placing connections on the front of the rack, the coupler provides access to back-of-the-box connectors that would otherwise be difficult to reach.
Available in many configurations, the SC-to-SC fibre optic coupler features a unique design based upon new slim-line inserts. The panel comes standard with silk-screened numbers, but permanent designation strips are also available. The system uses off-the-shelf patch cables to facilitate rapid and easy equipment connections.
Buchanan said: "The SC-to-SC fibre coupler is the latest in our new series of panels that let broadcasters and A/V professionals effectively wire-manager their existing infrastructures by mixing and matching a wide variety of cables and formats, such as SC fibre, HDMI, BNCs, RCAs and CAT 6 connectors.
"We'll be demonstrating all of these models at the NAB Show, and we look forward to showing attendees just how versatile and flexible our patching solutions can be in challenging, dynamic production environments."
