Gruelling Reality Show Gets Second Series

Following the success of Banijay International's flagship competitive reality format 71 Degrees North, a brand new second season of has been commissioned by ITV1 in the UK.
Season two is set to air later this year and will see another 10 celebrities put through their paces in the beautiful, yet harsh climate of the Norwegian highlands.

Spokeswoman Karoline Spodsberg commented: "We are delighted that ITV1 has re-commissioned this hard-working format. The show continues to have huge international potential for a wide audience demographic for primetime."
With full back-to-back line production facilities in Norway, 71 Degrees North has, from the outset, become one of the most watched entertainment series in Norway, Holland and Belgium.
In Norway the format has run successfully for an incredible 15 consecutive seasons. The show combines spectacular yet harsh nature, fierce competition and the constant challenges of completing a 2000 km journey on snow, ice and water.
Each episode provides new excitement as viewers follow two teams going from the south of Norway all the way north to Nordcap (71 degrees north), in conditions tougher than seen in any other reality show.
Surviving in temperatures as low as -51 degrees centigrade, the contestants are pushed to their physical and mental limits. Teamwork is essential, but it is also a competition – each episode someone will be sent home, as human nature is put to the test, tempers rise and the temperature drops inside the Artic Circle.
