Microlease Advances Digital Television Transmission For Screen Service
Responsive service from Microlease to provide high performance Agilent Technologies test and measurement equipment allowed leading television transmitter manufacturer Screen Service to develop products meeting the latest technical standards in time for IBC, the world's leading broadcast exhibition.
Being first to market gave Screen Service a strong commercial edge over its competition.
DVB-T2 is the second generation digital television transmission standard, which was developed in a very short time to allow broadcasters to deliver high definition television.
Development of the standard won the highly sought-after IBC Innovation Awards in 2010. The compressed development timescale for the standard set manufacturers a challenge in bringing practical products to market quickly.
Microplease and Screen Service worked closely together to determine which test and measurement equipment would be most appropriate to give the development team access to the critical measurements they require. The Agilent MXA 9020A signal analyser is available with new DVB-T2 firmware and a demonstration was arranged. The instrument performed as predicted and Microlease was able to deliver to Screen Service's requirements.
Matteo Rossi, Marketing Manager of Screen Service, said: "Our digital transmitters meet all the major world broadcast formats and it was very important for our customers that we demonstrate a working DVB-T2 solution as quickly as possible. DVB-T2 is a very elegant solution but its is very demanding on all aspects of signal handling and it was vital that the engineers had access to the right measurement parameters as soon as possible. Microlease was able to set up a rental contract and deliver when we needed."
Raffaele Gatta, Sales Director of Microlease's Italian office, said: "The partnership between Microlease and Agilent is a powerful one for digital and data engineers looking for uncompromised test and measurement solutions. In this case, it was excellent teamwork between us and our customer. We are delighted to be able to help Screen Service get this important new product to market quickly."
