Multi award-winning independent animation production company, Nexus Productions, has announced that Ben Hibon has joined their team.
Ben joins just as his three-minute animation sequence for the latest Harry Potter film will be seen worldwide as Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows premieres this week. The animation sequence was designed and directed by Ben and produced in collaboration with Framestore.
Ben graduated from the Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design with a Masters Degree. In 2004, after working for four years as a Creative Director he joined a commercial production company to move into directing. He then worked for MTV Europe and Asia and designed animated in-game sequences for Killer 7, Capcom's acclaimed video game, and elements of Tokyo Zombie, a Japanese horror film from the infamous director Sakichi Sato.
In 2007, Ben was commissioned by Sony Playstation to create and direct an animated mini-series based on their flagship PS3 game Heavenly Sword. Ben's short film Codehunters has been shown at more than 50 festivals around the wordl, scooping a D&AD nomination for animation and the coveted Golden Nica award at the Prix Arts Electronica 2007.
A move to Paris in 2008 saw Ben direct a series of six films as part of the re-branding of the French bank Credit Agricole. The ambitious project starred Sir Sean Connery who was captured on film and then turned into a life-like CGI avatar.
After working with Haylar Garcia, 2009 was the year Ben and his team unleashed AD, the first animated zombie-movie for a mature audience. A short teaser was produced as a proof of concept, and soon more than a million users online viewed it.
After being picked up by talent agency William Morris Endeavour in Los Angeles, Ben has been developing numerous animation and live-action feature film projects.
Ben joins Nexus, who will have worldwide exclusivity for commercials.
Chris O'Reilly, Co-Founder of Nexus, added: "Ben is, above all, a fantastic storyteller. With his strong sense of design and his experience in character animation, we're really excited to have him join the studio."
