Panasonic provide plasma screens to Commonwealth Games

As Official Provider of Plasmas to the Commonwealth Games in Manchester, Panasonic supplied over 50 widescreen plasmas (42") to the organisers which were used at locations throughout the Games.
These included a major display in the media centre with 20 plasmas showing live host broadcaster feeds by the BBC of all events. Plasmas were also installed in the main stadium including the Royal Box. With events staggered, the remaining plasmas were moved to each venue as required during the Games.
Tim Young, Senior Venue Technology Manager for the Commonwealth Games organisation said: "We wanted to provide the brightest and best display technology for the benefit of the media, visitors and athletes at the Games. We chose Panasonic plasmas because of their outstanding quality and excellent performance in high ambient light conditions. Panasonic has also provided the Games with superb back-up and support for their systems."
Ian Lowe, UK Sales Manager for Panasonic Broadcast Europe said: "Our appointment as Official Provider of plasmas to the Games and our overall support demonstrates Panasonic's substantial involvement with major sporting occasions worldwide such as the Commonwealth Games."
In addition to plasmas, Panasonic Broadcast also supplied nearly 800 TVs to the organisers including 14" for use in press seats in the stadium, as well as 24" and 28" TVs for all venues.
