TSL Monitor For Telegenic 3D OB

Outside Broadcast (OB) trucks - known as the workhorses of the industry - require the most powerful technology that will fit within the confines of mobile broadcast facilities.
Now, TSL Professional Product Group's PAM2-3G16 audio monitor has been developed to fit that profile and has now been selected as the audio monitor of choice for Telegenic's new 3D OB truck for BSkyB (Sky) - the first 3D-specific truck to be built in Europe.
The Royal Television Society Technology Innovation Award-winning PAM2-3G16 is a professional, multi-standard, multi-format audio monitor that includes Dolby Digital Plus as well as much-anticipated ITU-R BS.1770 loudness measurement capabilities to address pending international regulations on television loudness levels.
Telegenic Head of Sound Dave Rowley commented: "Our latest project is the first time we have transported surround mixes around the OB van in their discrete base band form.
"We take advantage of all 16 channels on an embedded SDI stream and so needed a new generation of monitoring to cope with this.
"The PAM2 was an ideal choice as it allows us to monitor all 16 channels simultaneously. Along with its extensive selection of input signals with not only two SDI inputs but AES and analogue as well this was an ideal choice.
"Flexible and intuitive, the PAM2 is a fantastic product," he enthused, noting that the PAM2-3G16's 2RU package includes 10 buttons that can be used to access menus and recall/manage user presets.
Sixteen bar graphs are simultaneously displayed, enabling users to view four groups of embedded audio or eight AES pairs.
TSL Audio Applications Manager Martin Dyster also said: "By creating a user-interface based on large OLED display technology we have combined meters, menu navigation and metadata all on one display and eliminated the need for expensive LED's.
"We believe the world-wide potential for this piece of British technology is huge."
