PACT Says BBC Can Do Better

The trade body for independent producers, said the recently released figures regarding the BBCs Window of Creative Competition (WOCC) prove that the scheme is working, but there is room for improvement.
Pact said the latest figures from the BBC show that independent production companies won 70% of the WOCC and BBC in-house won 30%, with independents performing well in key public service genres such as drama, entertainment and comedy. However, independents should be given the opportunity to increase their share of knowledge commissioning.
Chief Executive for Pact, John McVay said: "The WOCC continues to demonstrate the value of competition but we'd like to see Indies being able to compete for more commissions in knowledge, as this counts for many more hours of programming and is a key area for companies out of London."
