BECTU Launches Short Film Competition

The independent trade union for those working in broadcasting, film, theatre and entertainment, is running a short film competition as part of its 2010 Freelancers' Fair.
BECTU will select three finalists to discuss their work as part of a session titled Ethical Film-making Explored at the annual Freelancers’ Fair in London.
The competition is presented in partnership with agency and training organisation DV Talent which will award one place on one of its short courses or a week's free kit hire to the winner.
Entrants are asked to submit a short, up to five minutes long (no longer), in any genre or style and on any topic, to the competition page hosted by Vimeo.
Whilst film-makers have real freedom about the nature of the work they enter, one essential criterion for entry is that the work should be the result of a collaboration and be jointly owned by the cast and crew.
Competition Organiser and Documentary Film-Maker, Benetta Adamson commented: "This is an exciting project for BECTU and one which gives new film-makers the opportunity not only to have their work appraised by established programme-makers but to discuss options for collaboration in film-making. And of course we have a great prize on offer, courtesy of DV Talent."
Entries can be uploaded now. The closing date is 4th June 2010. The winner will be announced at the Freelancers’ Fair 2010 on Friday 11th June.
