Prime Focus Introduce View-D To UK

One of the largest visual entertainment services groups, Prime Focus, has introduced View-D, its proprietary process for the conversion of 2D to 3D stereoscopic images in the UK.
The View-D offering has been implemented into Prime Focus' 3D stereoscopic pipeline in its London facilities, and will be available to film as well as broadcast and commercials clients to help supply content for 3D TV.
Following the international launch of View-D last October, Prime Focus Los Angeles has been working on View-D tests for all the major studios and has just completed the conversion of Clash of the Titans for Warner Bros in only eight weeks.
"View-D has been a hit in Hollywood and we’ve had great feedback on the picture quality from the client. The time is right to introduce it to the UK," said Anshul Doshi, Group Managing Director UK, Prime Focus.
He added: "Following Channel 4's week of 3D programming last year major broadcasters are investing in 3D channels in 2010 and with all the major manufacturers recently introducing 3D screens 3DTV is finally on its way into people's homes.
"One problem that's delaying this is the lack of content to supply to the broadcasters. View-D can provide a solution by creating high-quality 3D content from 2D footage quickly and efficiently," he explained.
The London team have been trained by the View-D team in the US in preparation for the launch in the UK.
