Farnham Castle On Air

An English castle has added another programme to its growing list of TV and film productions located there.
The BBC's One Show shot a short film at Farnham Castle - which went on air on 17th March - to explore the war-time use made of the stately facility.
The feature, presented by Phil Tufnell, explored how groups of artists, magicians and zoologists, known as 'camoufleurs', helped design and develop camouflage for Britain's Armed Forces during the Second World War.
Speaking at Farnham Castle, Antony Penrose explained how his father, the surrealist artist Sir Roland Penrose, was one of the key figures in camouflage, writing the Home Guard Manual of Camouflage and attending the first Camouflage and Development Training Centre, set up at Farnham Castle in 1940.
"Farnham Castle was originally built in 1138 by a grandson of William the Conqueror," explained Jeff Toms, Director of Marketing and Client Services at Farnham Castle.
"The venue is steeped in history and it is wonderful to see this being brought to a wider audience through popular TV media like the One Show," he said.
The Castle's grounds and architecture and its close proximity to London have made an ideal location for filming over the years, with the director noted.
"As well as the One Show, Farnham Castle has previously been a filming venue for Foyle's War, Location, Location, Location, Cash in the Attic, Simon Schama's History of Britain and Prince Edward's: Tales from the Tower."
