Standards 'Urgent' For Post-Production
A set of clear national occupational standards is being developed for jobs in post production in response to rapid changes in the workplace and the need for new skills.
Senior figures across the industry, who sit on Skillset’s Facilities Skills Council, called for their "urgent" development to keep pace with technological advances and the introduction of digital media.
Post production is also increasingly about creativity, client handing customer relations and developing strong communication skills - as well as its more traditional technical focus.
Skillset, the Sector Skills Council for the creative industries, is inviting as much feedback as possible on how this "shopping list" of requirements should look.
Evolutions Managing Director Simon Kanjee said: "Drawing up these occupational standards is about making sure that the sector has the right people with the right skills. It is vital that we attract people who can drive our industry forward and grasp opportunities as they emerge."
Skillset Facilities Manager Saint John Walker added: "Skillset is committed to working with the post production sector to help raise existing skills, as well as identify new ones that might be crucial for the industry’s success. This work will also underpin the future development of new industry-relevant qualifications."
