Angel Studios Celebrates A Busy Year

Throughout its long and illustrious history Angel Studios, in Islington, has played host to an impressive range of international and award-winning music makers covering every conceivable musical genre and style, and 2009 has seen its fair share of big names in a busy year at the complex.
One of the many projects done at Angel this year is the musical Nine, which will be in cinemas at Christmas. With a screenplay by Michael Tolkin and Anthony Minghella, the film incorporates songs written by Broadway composer Maury Yeston and music by Andrea Guerra, recorded at Angel Studios.
Composer George Fenton was at the studio to score Looking For Eric, Ken Loach’s new film, and documentary David Attenborough: Life, currently showing on the BBC. He’s recorded several of his award-winning soundtracks at Angel Studios, including wildlife documentaries Blue Planet and Planet Earth, which won him both a BAFTA and an EMMY.
The Pet Shop Boys, Faithless, Escala, The Doves and Jamiroquai are just a few of the acts which have been in during 2009, while Anne Dudley arranged the strings for Robbie Williams’ comeback album Reality Killed The Video Star, produced by Trevor Horn.
Chart-topping acts, world-famous composers and orchestras, advertising jingle writers and the casts of West End musicals are just some of the clients who dropped into the state-of-the-art recording and mixing complex at Angel in 2009, and bookings are already filling up for 2010 with some interesting projects in the pipeline!
