AFL expand OB capability

AFL TV have expanded their OB capability with a new fully digital OB unit based in a Volkswagen Caravelle, which offers between two and five cameras in a very compact package.
Most commonly set up for 16:9 shooting on to Digital Betacam, this unit can be configured to record on to any digital format. As standard the equipment offers iso-recording of each camera’s output as well as the output of the Sony Digital Vision Mixer. Cameras pass via Sony camera control units and a Hamlet Digi Scope giving full engineering facilities. A radio talkback rig is also built into the van and enough standard sound and lighting kit is carried to cover all typical jobs.
This unit utilises cameras with on-board recorders and is also able to very quickly offer any of the cameras in single camera unit mode whenever required.
AFL have concentrated on a commonly overlooked sector being able to supply units based in small vehicles which are able to access many locations unsuitable for the larger trucks used by most OB companies.
Also, if necessary all equipment can be de-mounted and rigged inside any location.
