Bradley Engineering And High Spy Defy Elements For CBeebies Shoot

Bradley Engineering, a manufacturer of fully integrated, unique, remote camera solutions and High Spy, a leading remote aerial filming and photographic unit, has announced the continuation of their long standing relationship on a recent project for BBC's CBeebies channel.
Young viewers were invited to get ready for spring by designing and sending a flower to the channel, which may then be shown on air as part of a huge collage for a 'Thank you' film.
Thousands were received and Bradley Engineering and High Spy were enlisted to film outside aerial footage in HDV using the High Spy remote control helicopter fitted with Bradley Engineering’s Gyro 235 Pan/Tilt stabilised camera. The brief was to capture material for a number of scenes showing CBeebies presenters Andy Day and Cerrie Burnell walking through the flower designs in the Oxfordshire countryside.
Filming, which had to be completed in one day, across a number of locations was not without its trials. The eagerly anticipated sunny morning started with extremely high winds that continued throughout the shoot. Down draft from the trees tested the system to the max but it exceeded all expectations despite the elements delivering stunning aerial footage of the settings. The film was shown on the CBeebies channel throughout June.
Rory Watson, High Spy’s CEO commented: “David and I have been working together for several years and jointly designed the Gyro 235 as a partner to the High Spy helicopter. The difficult weather conditions on this shoot highlighted the robust design of the camera. I strongly believe that it is the only system that could have taken that much of a battering and not shut down!”
David Bradley, CEO, Bradley Engineering adds: “The fact that High Spy were able to capture the quality footage, in one day, is testament to our design philosophy, which takes frequent wear and tear into account. We are delighted that our equipment was chosen for this project and are extremely pleased with the results.”
Bradley Engineering’s Gyro 235 system can be used for a number of applications on vehicles such as full size aircraft, UAVs, aerostats and boats. The ball contains all the radio data receivers, viewfinder video transmitter and batteries for a truly self-contained operation. It can be rigged in a matter of minutes to many platforms.
