Never.no's Community TV Picks Up STAR Award

A broadcast company, never.no has announced that Community TV, its 'end-to-end' solution, has been given a top accolade.
It simplifies and lowers the cost of high quality broadcast and is now a Superior Technology Award Recipient (STAR) in the eyes of the editor and staff members of TV Technology Europe.
The prestigious award was given at the IBC 2009 conference in Amsterdam in September.
The never.no Chief Executive Officer, Lars Lauritzen said: "TV Technology Europe is a leading magazine for the industry and therefore its editor has a uniquely broad perspective when it comes to trends, needs and innovation.
"We believe that in Community TV, the publication is recognising a product that is delivering performance in Europe today as well as one that has vast potential for the future."
Community TV uses the company's proprietary interactive technology to make possible a cost-effective end-to-end solution for managing and broadcasting television programming, both on-air and online.
Available either as enterprise software on the site's owner's own server, or as software as a service (SaaS) over the internet, the turnkey system dramatically reduces broadcast costs when compared with traditional broadcast methods.
The Community TV platform is based on technology from Harris Corporation, including the NEXIO AMP advanced media platform and the Inscriber RTX on-air HD/SD graphics solution.
The NEXIO AMP server manages playout for all user video content, and the RTX system brings both the channel's brand and the viewer's voice to life with a rich, graphical look and feel and interactive messaging.
Tim Thorsteinson, President of Harris Broadcast Communications, said: "We are truly delighted to see that never.no's Community TV platform is being recognised as a truly innovative broadcast solution, as it enables a highly dynamic viewer experience."
TV Technology's STARs showcase preeminent technological innovations in the broadcast industry. This year, TV Technology Europe's editor examined the technical applications and overall contribution to the industry made by a variety of products before choosing 25 winners.
Mark Hallinger, Editor of TV Technology Europe, said: "STAR awards are given to interesting new products that help a user save money or accomplish a task more easily. The products selected help advanced the industry.
"Some were chosen because of technical novelty or innovation, some because they filled an important gap in the production or transmission chain, and some because they were just cool products."
Ten-year-old never.no took two additional awards home to Oslo from IBC 2009, a "What Caught My Eye" award from IBC TV News, and a Cable & Satellite International (CSI) Award from CSI Magazine for "best playout or connectivity solution".
