Photon Beard's Hot Nova 270 Hits Cool Spot At NAB

Photon Beard is launching a new concept in low heat, energy efficient location lighting with its PhotonSpot Nova 270 light fixture.
The pre-production prototype, seen by the company as the future of location and broadcast lighting, is being shown for the first time at NAB 2011.
The PhotonSpot Nova 270 is the world's first to utilise a new, highly efficient light source that is far more efficient and outputs far more light, than either HMI or LED.
Light Emitting Plasma (LEP) is currently found in street lighting, aquarium and grow-lighting applications. The source benefits from a high CRI of 94, which means there is excellent distribution of the full spectrum of visible light while delivering an astonishing 14,000 lumens with a useful lifetime of approximately 20,000 hours.
According to Photon Beard Managing Director Peter Daffarn: "PhotonSpot Nova is a completely new concept in location lighting and we are thrilled to unveil it at NAB. PhotonSpot Nova's exceptionally low power consumption and ultra-cool beam nevertheless provides a light output equivalent to 200W of tungsten Fresnel. Users will, quite literally, have all the light they need without breaking a sweat."
The new PhotonSpot Nova 270's power consumption is just 273W and can be mains or battery powered. Because of its cool-running nature, no fans are required.
The unit is focusable from 12 to 55 degrees and is daylight colour balanced within a near continuous spectrum.
