Toon Boom supplies London Metropolitan University

Pixelution, value-added IT reseller to the digital Media Industry in the UK, have just completed installation of 50 seats of Toon Boom Studio 2D cell animation software at London Metropolitan University in time for the commencement of the BSc multimedia degree.
Chris Dyson, principal lecturer and BSC Multimedia course organiser said that the course has recently seen a radical modification. He is convinced that the course has been brought up-to-date and it is now more relevant to the industry by providing an academic and practical base covering the creative, design, technical and business skills necessary within the multimedia field.
Students will develop the skills necessary to produce a range of assets for use in the development of multimedia, including 2D and 3D assets, video, sound and animation. Dyson commented: “We considered using Toon Boom Technologies’ USAnimation but felt that, given the time frame, such an extensive package would prove too much to take on board for a single module. So, we opted for Toon Boom Studio instead as it offers many of the same features that we were looking for, such as the multi-plane flash output, the use of traditional methods and most importantly the easy to use interface. As our animation programme develops, we will continue to explore opportunities to use USAnimation and we have taken a provisional copy to evaluate and for the more adventurous students to get their teeth into.”
Chris bought his own personal copy of Toon Boom Studio at Digital Media World last year. He was so impressed by how quick and easy it was to produce high quality animation he felt it would be the ideal package to introduce students to the world of cartoons.
